Interviewing Ilustrata

nickname Ilustrata - 6 by February by 2018
We would like you to make us a brief description about yourself. Tell us whatever you feel like: how do you consider yourself, what are your hobbies, what do you do for a living, your fixations.. whatever you want!
We are a brazilian illustration studio, our team is composed by three guys: Bruno Rodrigues, David Faraum and Victor Kahn. The best moments of our days are when were illustrating.
We love the japanese, video game and retro things, so these are the more recurent themes in our illustrations.
The studio was founded at 2013, but we just was really introduced by the tshirts world at 2016 and its being totally amazing since that. We expected to do a lot of new amazing designs to the tshirts community on the future, so please stay tuned.

-About your beginnings, When did you start to illustrate?
We have almost the same age and we start to illustrate at our early childhood aroud 5 or 6 years old. But of course in this time we couldnt imagine that we would work with it in the future. The time has passed and at 2011 we started to work with illustration. At this time we were yung guys at our twenties and in the middle of the college, where we met each others.

-What motivates your work the most as a designer/illustrator?
We love to do tshirt desings that we would love to wear. It's an magic sensation when the community apreciate your work.
Our illustrations envolves our likes and to see that there is so many people that like of this same things, it give us a lot of motivation to do more and more illustrations.

-About the creative process, where do you look for inspiration for your designs? / What inspires you?
I think that what has inspiring us more are the old things, like illustration from 60s, 70s, 80s and some japanese retro arts.

-What's the hardest part in the creative process?
The most hard and important stage is the initial layout. We always start an illustration doing a thumbnail (a very small sketch) where we test some compositions until get a nice one, basically when you have a nice thumb the most hard part is done.

-From your point of view, what makes an illustration a great illustration?
Its hard to answer, because there is no rule on the illustration. But I think that you have to try a lot of different ways to illustrate, and never stop to study about drawing and illustration. Were doing this and looking to be great illustrators someday too.

-People say that we all have someone who truly inspires us and we consider an example to follow.
Oh this is hard to answer too, there is so many good artists that inspire us. But here is three of them: Bicicleta sem freio, Gaston Pacheco and Yuko Shimizu.

WHAT DO YOU THINK?
