TRY OUT PAMPLING

As we have explained many times, our main objective when we choose a t-shirt is that you really like it. By this we hope for you to keep sending us new interesting designs and buying t-shirts.

We know that there are a lot of designs that are worth being produced. Many of you have written us asking for models that haven´t been chosen and a lot of times we would have liked to make t-shirts of great artists. We have spent a lot of time thinking about how to solve this problem. Producing a new model of a t-shirt is expensive, since the fixed costs are high and the materials that we have chosen to produce in aren´t exactly cheap.

To solve this problem we have thought about an idea called the ”Try out Pampling”. So how does it work?

For some designs that until now wouldn´t have been produced, basically because of fear from our side, from now on and with retroactive effect, we will propose the designer a “try out” of 50 units. The award will be of 100 euros (50+50) and the designer will of course have the last word concerning the production of the t-shirt . These t-shirts require a common effort. The designer will receive a smaller award and Pampling will produce the t-shirts at a higher cost (the majority of the fixed costs are the same). By this we strive to benefit both parties.

If the t-shirt is successful and we make more units, the award to the designer will be in proportion of the normal Pampling award (70-30), and we also guarantee a minimum of 125 units (175 € in money and 75 € in t-shirts).

The rest will continue the same way as usual:

We will keep making 500 € choices and we will also keep making and paying the designers for the re-editions of successful t-shirts.

Since the final decision is ours, we realize that some designers may feel discriminated and ask themselves : Why 100 for mine and 500 for another? We ask for your understanding, because even though we depend extremely much on your opinions, we are not able to establish a criterion that would be 100 % objective and quantifiable for the choices. The designer will of course have the last word when it comes to accepting or declining this option. Besides, it is also a fact that the income of the designer already depends on the level of sales, when it comes to successful t-shirts.

We are positive that this will mean that we can produce more models and that more designers will be represented at Pampling. What do you think?
